Ive bought XoftSpySE to get rid of the spyware but the little red circle with a cross in the bottom right hand bar keeps popping up still and saying i have spyware. My dad suggested doing a system restore. Would this be beneficial? If not, what would? Please help because my computer keeps Freezing and shutting down
Thankyou!

Chosen Answer:
System restore is not likely to help.
Download, install, update, and run one or both of these:
Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (Free, don’t register it)

SUPERAntiSpyware Free

It depends, system restore, puts your system into the state at that restore point. So if you are sure there was no spyware on a restore point 2 weeks ago, then restore back to that point.
you would be better off to reinstall your os
do you have a restore point older than when the virus got installed ?
that would work.
No, the system restore would just delete everything on your computer that has changed, but hasn’t been saved, since the last checkpoint, which should have been around 2:00A.M. this morning. You will need a good virus protection program to delete the spyware and keep any other viruses away. Avast is a good choice.

no. 100% absolutely no. The virus or trojan or spyware or whatever it is has made changes to the registry that will come back to life even after the system restore. you need a program like PC Doctor or some other program specifically designed to remove viruses, adware, malware and the rest.
It might help yes. And it wouldn’t hurt your computer to do so.
But you’d be better installing other anti-spyware programs. Try Ad-aware and spybot for starters.
Also, you can identify which spyware it is by running a free antivirus scan online. go to http://www.pcpitstop.com for a free virus scan. It won’t remove it, but it’ll identify which one you have. Then Google the name of the spyware and find out how to remove it.
If you have a virus and know it’s name, you can download a removal application for THAT virus. Just google “pqremove (and the name of the virus).
WE also had spyware on our computer . we took it to our neighborhood computer geek and he downloaded the free Super anti spyware off the internet and ran it thru our system and it worked. It also is free, so try it first, it might save you several bucks . Good luck
Hi Kayliegh
Your father has the best solution, if this fails its going to be expensive as the hard drive is the central issue, and you would need all the software on the disk to re-install it all.
Download, Install & Run Weekly

You are infected with spyware if:
* You see too much pop-up advertisements.
* Your browser has toolbars that you haven’t installed.
* Your homepage has changed (and you can’t change it back).
* Other settings have changed without your permission.
* Your computer is slow.
To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
You can download a antispyware software. There are 10 good anti-spywares.
here is the reviews: http://toptenantispyware.com/
You can download one and scan your system.
All are safe and can be trusted.
Possibly but unless you get yourself properly protected it will re-occur over and over again. If I were you I would go straight to Windows LiveOneCare and run their scanners – all of them. This will clean up your machine without having to do a system restore. It is completely free, will take some hours though, although I would advise you to download and eventually buy their antivirus program as it is well worth the money and also install, completely free, Super Antispyware.
