I have this Malware virus on my computer and it is called Antivirus pro 2009.Antivirus pro 2009 came out of know were! i did not download it, but while browsing the internet my computer automatically restarted .As soon as my computer rebooted, i got a red X on the bottom right corner of my screen that reads “windows has detected a spyware infection!”knowing it was a virus i then right clicked the red x trying to get rid of it manually, next thing I knew i noticed that it starts to install.
some how this virus has bypassed my microsoft firewall and has disabled my avg Antivirus 8.0 !. Also when i try to search for help on google it redirects me to a page advertising AV pro 2009. Antivirus pro 2009 has also blocked websites that could help with the problem.i am currently using my schools computer to write this message.i have also tried multiple anti-malware and anti-virus software’s to fix the problem.I tried SpyHunter,RegCure,XoftSpySE and Spyware Doctor, but as soon as i try to install or update the programs they either do not work or can not fully install. You guys have discussed how to remove “Antivirus 2009″ but i feel Antivirus pro 2009 is a totally new malware they cooked up.please can you guys help me im desperate!!!!.

Antivirus Pro 2009 is a fake, it pretends to scan your PC but just gives you fake results saying you are infected when you are not just to scare you into buying there software.
SpyHunter,RegCure,XoftSpySE and Spyware Doctor are all either very weak or near enough fake themselves, malwarebytes and superantispyware and the two best free spyware removers avaliable scan with both and computer will be clean.
How to remove Fake Software, Toolbars, Trojans and Viruses:
Download, install, update and scan your computer with both SuperantiSpyware and Malwarebytes, delete what ever they find, if this fails to completely remove the virus/spyware download then update Avast and run a boot scan (click schedule boot-time scan and restart your PC), all the software below is free and safe to use.
SuperantiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
To protect your PC in the future you need to use anti-virus software and a firewall, id recommend using Avast and Comodo Pro firewall both are very effective and completely free, you should also switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE as its much safer. (links on my profile)
Uninstall SpyHunter,RegCure,XoftSpySE and Spyware Doctor Go To start>Settings>Control Panel>ADD OR Remove Program>SpyHunter,RegCure,XoftSpySE and Spyware Doctor Then Try To Use 1> Download “MalwareBytes Anti-Malware” from the link below (Free), update it, run a full scan and clean any infection/s found.
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?cdlPid=10896905
2> Now download “SuperAntiSpyware Free” from the link below (As the title suggests, this is also free), update it, then run a full scan, also clean any infection found

Malwarebytes is what you need to download. The links are above.
Go to http://www.bitdefender.com/ and use the free online virus scanner. It does work good.
1. Download any distribution of linux (other than redhat which isn’t free).
2. Burn image to a CD-R or DVD, or multiple CD-R’s, whatever is required.
3. Format computer drive
4. Insert disk before reboot or before boot device is chosen and booted.
5. Reboot.
6. Install linux distribution and use needed documentation.
7. Start your new OS and install WINE if needed and other applications.
8. Any questions, refer to man pages for your distro (man = manual)
9. GOOGLE and RTFM before asking questions.
10. ALWAYS remember if you have a problem, someone else probably had the same problem before you and asked someone on the internet about it.(USE GOOGLE)
11. Enjoy your new, virus free, operating system. On top of that… It was free.
Hope you take my advice even though I’m almost positive you will. But you should consider or try it. Maybe on a separate PC and see if you like it. Just take it into consideration, good idea if you ask me. We all have our own opinions though.
I have used Solo Antivirus from http://www.srnmicro.com to remove this malware. Contacted their support regarding this problem. They have been prompt and helpful.
I have EXACTLY the same problem! =[ Help everyone! HELP!
I have the same problem too!
Even Norton cant stop it.
Norton helped me with everything!
Whats even worse?
The virus prevents me from going on a anti-virus download!
I need a possible answer please!
I got infected by antivirus pro 2009, I followed what Mike field said. But the red ballon was coming again and agian thats because of Brastk.exe and Karna.DAT. But I cleared all now. So here is the complete steps,
Step 1 to remove the antivirus pro 2009
Step 2 to get rid of Brastk.exe and Karna.DAt
Step 1 to remove the antivirus pro 2009
Mike fields steps to clear Anir virus pro from your syste, (Thanks Mike)
- Killed the av2009.exe process using Task Manager
- Took a look at where the Antivirus 2009 shortcut pointed (they put one in the desktop)
- Took a note on the date and time of the av2009.exe file
- Searched the Registry to see if they were any references to av2009.exe. Did not find any.
- Removed the C:\Program Files\Antivirus 2009 directory and all files
- Removed the desktop shortcut
- Removed the shortcut in the Start Menu (be aware they put it in the upper area, where Windows Update is located)
- Rebooted, but then discovered that IE was still infected, in particular when I tried to navigate to Sysinternals. Also discovered that the Security Center applet in Control Panel was not working
- Went to Windows\System32 and found 3 files from about the same time of the infection:
ieupdates.exe
scui.cpl
winsrc.dll
- Again before removing the files I searched the registry and deleted references to ieupdates.exe (register to start automatically) and winsrc.dll (registered as a COM file)
- Reboot again and tried IE and Security Center, both are working now
Step 2. To Remove Brastk.Exe and Karna.Dat
Boot to safe mode.
Delete karna.dat and brastk.exe in C:\Windows (or C:\WinNT) and C:\Windows\system32.
Delete wini10###.exe in C:\Windows\system32.
Replace beep.sys in C:\Windows\system32\drivers from a backup source or simply delete it. Make sure the good file does not exceed 10k.
Delete the entire Antivirus 2009 folder in C:\Program Files.
Remove the brastk string from the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
Remove the Antivirus 2009 string from the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
Modify the AppInit_DLLs string from the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows by removing karna.dat.
Remove the Antivirus 2009 key (entire subfolder) from the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
Restart Windows normally.
Reinstall your antivirus software.
Good Luck !!!
Gokul.
I know your frustration. The same thing happened to me a few days ago. You cannot uninstall it from your computer and there is no contact info for the company that infested your computer with it. I wasnt about to give any company my credit card # to remedy a virus they caused so I went up to Staples, bought Norton Antivirus 360 and intalled it on my computer. 24 hours later and after much aggravation I am back on track. Serves me right for letting my anti-virus expire but at least the virus is gone now.
